can you explain what surface graining is in a diamond? Is it a bad thing? I am looking at a stone that has some but told it is eye clean

Surface graining is an irregularity in the crystal structure at the surface. Usually it’s fine, but you’d still want to evaluate each diamond individually and in the context of the other inclusions.
