Looking for opinions on this CVD diamond.
Can’t see any strain lines, but some reassurance would be good.
Similarly, it’s a H for colour but doesn’t look too brown to me?
I agree, this is a good CVD with regards to strain. The black crystals are small and should be eye-clean. It’s a brown H (not the worst brown), so it’s up to you whether the hue is OK. I had a hard time finding an alternative with better color since I usually try to avoid brown. The closest I could come was the option below. It’s a yellow HPHT that jumps to E. The black needle is bigger than the crystals in the H, but still only 0.1mm x 0.5mm in real size terms.

Ah one other QQ – the one you posted looks a tiny bit blurry in the viewer? Do you think that is just a result of the photography?
Have noticed a few on the website like this, and can’t tell if its inherent in the diamond, or just photos.
Yes, as I mentioned this is a better brown (not the worst brown). I generally do not recommend brown diamonds though. Brown trades at a discount to yellow for natural diamonds because it’s less desirable, so I don’t see a reason to accept it for lab diamonds either.
That said, I had a hard time finding a better alternative. As I mentioned the E is the closest I could get to that size and price and it has a black needle. So it’s up to you what you feel more comfortable with.
Haha, OK you’ve convinced me not to go brown, but i’m a little worried about the inclusion on the one you’ve linked.
Hoping to get your opinion on these 3:
[apologies if repost, seems the first one didn’t go through]
My computer vision algorithm calls these as blue (https://www.diamondscreener.com/education/detecting-blue-nuance-hue-in-lab-created-diamonds-using-computer-vision/). Certainly the 1.56 E SI1 is. It’s hardest to see it in the 1.61 E SI1 (9835042) of the three, so it’s the best E of these three.
The 1.55 E SI1 has a cloud under the table, so with that and the color I’d prefer the 1.61 E SI1 (9835402) of these picks. If you compare it to the other 1.61 E SI1 (10165679) I linked in side view, you might be be able to tell the difference in color (blue vs. yellow).
I’d definitely prefer a cooler blue over brown though.
Hi Joe, thanks for your super fast response and alternate suggestion, much appreciated!
Even though it is brown, at least to my eye, it seems noticeably less brown than one of the ones in your HPHT vs CVD article when viewed in side profile: https://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/2.03-carat-h-color-vs1-clarity-ideal-cut-sku-8366638
Would you agree, or am I just kidding myself?
To my eye on the website, the colour is acceptable, but not sure how that translates in real life.
