Hello,
I am looking at this diamond and hoping to just verify that this is a smart purchase. I found this using the diamond price screener and it was settled right on the efficient frontier with ideal proportions. I plan on setting this in a yellow gold four prong solitaire setting so I was fine with the K color as long as it wasn’t brown.
Anything I am missing with this stone?

This looks like a really low K. That’s what generally happens when a higher clarity diamond is priced like a lower clarity diamond. I also think it looks slightly hazy.
Even though it’s a yellow gold ring, I think this shows a lot more color than I would expect. You might consider something like the J below – not overkill for yellow gold, but better than the K.

Thanks for the reply, Joe. Out of curiosity, I noticed the diamond you linked doesn’t have ideal proportions. Will this translate to less brilliance?
No, with 58 table/36 crown angle/40.8 pavilion angle, this is just outside of ideal. Cut quality does not drop off a cliff just because it’s outside of the boundary. I would rather have the significant improvement in color without a medium fluorescence haze. Compare them side by side.
Thanks for the recommendation, Joe. That side-by-side feature was helpful as well. Unfortunately, that stone you mentioned was purchased before I could pull the trigger. Would you be able to find anything similar that is still available? I am having a hard time with the price screening tool since I can only go for ideal proportions or all diamonds and then would need to request individual reports for each one.
