By using the screener for lab created prices I came across this diamond and wanted to know in your opinion if it would be eye clean? Also, for rounds – should I be paying more attention to color vs clarity? 5K is my budget for the stone at this time.
This is a 1.63 E VS2 Ideal for $5k.
With lab diamonds, I would pay more attention to color. For instance, this 1.63 E VS2 has a blue hue. Clarity is also important, but it only has to be eye-clean.
I had a hard time finding a nice alternative greater than 1.5ct within your budget that didn’t have a blue or brown hue. When you say ~1.5ct, how close to 1.5ct does it have to be? I think something like the 1.35 E SI1 below would offer more bang for your buck. The 1.63 E VS2 offers 20% more carats (14% greater visual spread as defined by surface area), but is 74% more expensive. The 1.35 E SI1 doesn’t have a blue hue.
Otherwise, someone else asked a similar question (https://www.diamondscreener.com/questions/lab-round-1-5-ct/) and the 1.51 D VS2 from that thread is still available. However, it goes beyond your budget.

Thank you so much for your insight! I did read through that discussion and it is helpful, thanks for pointing it out.
The D color 1.51 just over 5k isn’t bad. I was quoted with ADA Diamonds for 1.52 F VS1 for $4900. Seems like a better deal to me with better specs.. hmmm
