My budget is $10-12k and I’m looking for a 1.5-1.7 carat round diamond. G/H min, at least VS2 (or eye clean), with excellent/ideal cut. Any feedback or suggestions would be appreciated!
This 1.53 H VS1 has a brown hue. The internal graining is quite strong – you can see the faint strain lines throughout the diamond which will create a slightly fuzzy appearance. I also think it’s relatively expensive for the specs.
I liked the options below as alternatives. They go up in clarity, have a yellow hue, and don’t show that strain. They also save you money – the price difference for the 1.5 H VVS2 is $1120.

thanks – what do you think about this one?
That’s the one I linked. I think it’s a nice diamond. Better symmetry and clarity than the 1.5 H VVS2, but I think the 1.5 H VVS2 gives more bang for the buck.
Thanks for all the help. What about this one as an alternative? Seems to have better proportions but not sure if the color is similarly poor. I guess the graining also exists.
Round, 1.53, H, VVS2, Excellent, $10,880
I saw this one when I was looking. As you mentioned, this has some strain (graining, seen as vertical lines on the arrow that points to 3 o’clock as you rotate it). It’s also more expensive than the 1.5 H VVS2. That’s why I chose the one I listed instead.
My only concern with the 1.5 H VVS2 is that the symmetry seems worse (only Very Good) and the cut proportions seem less than ideal (AGS 1, and only marginally GIA Excellent).
Wondering if I should wait for more inventory to pop up (no idea how frequently this happens) or just compromise and pick one of these.
In your opinion, how good are these diamonds relative to what I could get if I waited? Thanks again!
Btw, here is the GIA report. One concern I had is about the “internal graining not shown”.
