First, thanks for the wonderful resource that your website is! I am trying to find an engagement ring. I have this emerald diamond here and am wondering how well cut do you think it is? In addition, do you think it is a good value and what do you deem as its weakest attributes?
It’s a matter of personal taste, but I prefer a lower corner ratio so that it is more rectangular than octagonal.
I think something like the diamond below would be a better value. It’s a 0.07ct difference to go up one color grade and save $950. The 1.29 F VS1 is a bit bigger at 7.57x5mm compared to the 7.26×5.01mm of the 1.22 E VS1, but I don’t think 0.3mm is worth $950 (15%) more. It also has a lower corner ratio.

I think G is fine.
If everything is equal, I’d prefer the higher color of the E over the higher clarity of the G. There’s more chance you will notice a difference in color than a difference in clarity. They’re roughly the same relative value – the G trades two color grades for two clarity grades and no fluorescence (more expensive in higher colors) for faint fluorescence.
The G is less in absolute terms though, so it depends on what your overall goal for value is. Either would be nice.
What is the minimum color you would go? Was looking at the one (link below) based on your recommendation and wondering if it was an even better value.
