I’m looking for an oval diamond, 1.5-1.7 carat, VS2-VS1 clarity, F-G color.
Here are a few of the diamonds I’m looking at, any thoughts?
1.71 VS2 F $15140
1.73 VS1 G $15060
1.6 VS1 G $12180
1.51 VS1 F (Cert) $13570
1.53 VS1 G $12601
Some options I’ve thrown out to see if I’m judging things correctly:
1.6 VS2 G $12650 – Significant inclusion towards the edge, the other 1.6 VS1 seems better and is cheaper
1.54 VS1 F $12270 – Bowtie looks noticeable
1.53 VS2 F $12410 – Bowtie looks noticeable, and the inclusion on the face of the diamond seems pretty prominent
Of these, I like the 1.73 G VS1 and the 1.53 G VS1. I’ll just say they caught my eye the most because it would take a long time to go through the details of this many diamonds.
You might also consider the options below. I think they minimize the crushed ice you typically see on the sides and don’t have bow ties.

Thanks for taking a look!
I think I have narrowed things down a bit, I’m thinking right now between the 1.7 and 1.73 from the original post and the 1.74 you suggested. Any chance you could take a closer look at these three?
What is the “Crushed Ice” effect you were talking about?
I also noticed on the certs for the 1.73 (https://i.imgur.com/Tvskv4b.jpg) and the 1.74 (https://i.imgur.com/DL20MzZ.jpg) that the facet arrangement is different than the 1.7 (https://yadav-certs.s3.amazonaws.com/6342462660.pdf). Does this affect the diamond in some way?
Yes, I prefer the table orientation of the 1.73 and 1.74. I think the vertices pointing to 12, 3, 6, and 9 o’clock fits the outline of an oval better.
The crushed ice effect is the mushy appearance you get towards the sides (3 and 9 o’clock). When you rotate the diamond, I try to find diamonds with facets that light on the sides, not just the center. So in that regard, I like the 1.74 G VVS1 more.
