Based on your choices, it seems like you’re trying to maximize visual size. The first and third options are 1ct (with larger than average 6.55mm diameters) and the second option is 1.31ct. Of these three, I think the 1.3ct is the best relative value because it’s on the cost-efficiency frontier of the G VS2 price curve. After searching my database, I also would have recommended the 1.31 G VS2 at the 1.3ct mark, so it’s a nice choice. However, it’s the most expensive in absolute terms and I generally don’t like to max out budgets. The options below might be better relative deals compared to the 1ct options you found and would be a happy medium for size and budget.
- At the 1ct mark, the 1.01 F VS1 would save you $1000-1500 compared to your two 1ct choices. It’s well-cut, but it has the average diameter of a 1ct diamond.
- At the 1.1ct mark, I think the 1.12 G SI1 would be a good choice and would save you $500-1000 over your 1ct choices while having a slightly larger diameter.
- Close to the 1.2ct mark, the 1.18 G VS1 would essentially the same price as the 1.02 G VVS2 you’re looking at, but go up 0.16ct with a larger diameter.
- At the 1.3ct mark, I would go with your choice of the 1.31 G VS2.
I think either of the 1.12 G SI1 or 1.18 G VS1 would hit the sweet spot of size and budget, depending on your priorities.
